LAMP Alum Carol Nemeth Joven - Lawyer Extraordinaire

Thursday, November 19, 2020

Meet Carol Nemeth Joven - LAMP honors (1991 Economics BA, LAMP honors). Originally from South Bend, Indiana, Carol came to IU undecided about what to study. She loved taking the university’s entry-level economics classes, which lead her to pursue an economics degree. Carol was drawn to LAMP, a then brand-new IU program, because the curriculum offered a flexible and well-rounded education, which was very important to her.

After graduating, Carol attended the Maurer School of Law in Bloomington. She currently works at Price Waicukauski Joven & Catlin, LLC in Indianapolis as a lawyer, primarily representing plaintiffs in complex civil litigation. More specifically, her areas of practice include business litigation, professional legal and medical malpractice, civil rights, and personal injury. Carol loves that in her career, no two cases are alike. This has allowed her to work on a variety of cases and represent different clients, including both individuals and businesses.

Carol thinks that a basic understanding of business is helpful to any career path, and that the critical thinking and communication skills LAMP teaches are essential. Carol’s advice to current LAMP students is to “get involved in your community - volunteer and join professional organizations. Develop relationships with colleagues and mentors while maintaining your current friendships and contacts. Doing these things will not only help your career, but they will also enrich your life.”

Thank you, Carol! We love to hear from our alumni near and far. We also invite all LAMP alumni to fill out our Stay in Touch form on the LAMP website.
